I hooked my nephew up w minecraft for his ps3 for xmas. I grabbed a few maps online and did them all the same way. PS3 > SAVEDATA > folder. Out of the 20 or so i downloaded, 2 show up in the load screen but all appeared to not be corrupted and allowed me copy to the ps3. Pretty sure if you make a map with no compass ( in PE not Java) it will have no player marker but if you make it with a compass it will. Also on a map wall only the map you are in will show the marker but you should see the dot on any map if you hold them.
